Université Gustave Eiffel Hosts the Second Edition of the European “Transformative Engagement” Programme

Following a first edition hosted by the University of Huelva (Spain) in 2025, Université Gustave Eiffel welcomed the second edition of this international programme, jointly developed by the University of Huelva, Université Gustave Eiffel and ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon.
The programme is part of a long-term European cooperation initiative aimed at building a community of learning and research focused on the regeneration of vulnerable neighbourhoods. Through this series of BIPs, the partner institutions seek to strengthen links between higher education, research and local stakeholders in order to generate knowledge that can support urban and societal transitions.
Throughout the week, participants took part in collaborative workshops, field visits and discussions with local authorities and community partners. Several activities were organised in partnership with IFIS Val d’Europe, providing a valuable opportunity to explore territorial development dynamics and address challenges related to social inclusion, citizen participation and quality of life.
In line with the spirit of the PIONEER Alliance, the programme promoted the co-creation of knowledge and dialogue between disciplines, institutions and local actors. Participants were encouraged to share experiences, exchange practices and jointly develop ideas for future action in support of territorial transformation.
Beyond international mobility, this BIP illustrates how universities can act as drivers of change by mobilising education, research and European cooperation to address major contemporary challenges. The work initiated during this programme will continue through the next stages of collaboration between the partner universities.
