CLEAR-doc

CLEAR-Doc (City Lab Education And Research Doctoral Programme) is a project under the H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND program aimed at promoting excellence in training, mobility, and career development for researchers engaged in international, intersectoral, and interdisciplinary research.

It is an international doctoral program that has recruited promising young researchers from around the world on 3-year doctoral contracts. The program is co-funded by the European Commission, Gustave Eiffel University, and 5 partners: Pays de la Loire Region, Eiffage, AREP, the University of Bolzano (Italy), and the University of Bologna (Italy).

The thesis topics, proposed by Gustave Eiffel University across a wide range of disciplines, align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

  • Challenge 1: Designing and developing resource-efficient urban spaces.
  • Challenge 2: Understanding and managing "urban risks" for resilient cities.
  • Challenge 3 : Developing the digital city and making it a catalyst for social, environmental, and economic performance.

The objectives of the project

 

Focus on all research areas related to the City of Tomorrow, including living conditions and mobility.
 

Two calls for applications were held:
 

  • 2022: 60 thesis topics proposed by 12 components, 115 applications received, 14 doctoral candidates selected.
  • 2023: 64 thesis topics proposed by 12 components, 107 applications received, 16 doctoral candidates selected.
     

Doctoral candidates, located across different campuses of the University, have facilitated access to major research facilities on campus to conduct their activities. They also receive excellent supervision for thesis preparation, personalized guidance, and specific training for their professional projects.
 

Two calls for applications were held:
 

  • 2022: 90 thesis topics proposed, 300 applications received, 15 doctoral candidates funded.
  • 2023: 60 thesis topics proposed, 150 applications received, 15 doctoral candidates funded.
     

Selected doctoral candidates are assigned to different University campuses based on their thesis topics. They have facilitated access to major research facilities on campus for their activities and receive personalized guidance, from thesis preparation to professional project realization.
