Deep tech for cities and mobility of tomorrow

Sci-Ty project

Sci-Ty is the winner of the "pre-maturation - maturation" call for projects from France 2030. It aims to support the creation of innovative products and services for sustainable cities and mobility. It brings together 29 members and partners, distributed throughout the national territory.

Objectives of the project

The Sci-Ty project has two major objectives:

  • Accelerate the transformation of territories towards carbon neutrality.

  • Promote the transfer of innovation from research to the socio-economic world.

These objectives will be achieved through:

  • Developing and strengthening support for the creation of innovative products and services for sustainable cities and mobility.

  • Creating a community of experts and innovators at the national level and across territories (experts, scientists, local authorities, residents, socio-economic actors).

A portion of the projects will be monitored during their pre-maturation phase: the initial step in the technology transfer process where scientific research is translated into applied research through the development of first prototypes or proof of concepts.

The consortium is led for pre-maturation by Gustave Eiffel University, co-pilot of the two National Priority Research Programs and Equipment (PEPR) of the National Strategies with which the project is aligned, namely "sustainable cities and innovative buildings" and "digitalization and decarbonization of mobility." One of the challenges will be to mobilize, for pre-maturation, across different territories, the main actors of Higher Education and Research (ESR) also involved in the PEPRS on these themes.

Projects pre-matured under the program may, based on their results, continue through the maturation process: a second stage of project development aimed at transforming research into products or services. The maturation phase is also open to projects that have undergone a pre-maturation step outside the Sci-Ty program.

SATT Erganeo, with its expertise of over 10 years, leads the maturation component of the project. Regarding maturation, the ambition is to involve a network of SATTs, especially those linked to the various campuses of Gustave Eiffel University, and complementary support mechanisms for innovative companies.

The ambition of Sci-Ty is to develop 250 innovative projects over 5 years

In 2023, 42 projects have already been selected: 33 in pre-maturation and 9 in maturation on the two main themes, which are also those of the two PEPRs piloted by Gustave Eiffel University:

Sustainable Cities and Buildings:
  • Transforming the city through an integrated approach
  • Acting on buildings for energy and resource efficiency
  • Developing geo-sourced construction

Digitalization and Decarbonization of Mobility:
  • Reinventing railway transport and optimizing its management
  • Optimizing, securing, and decarbonizing public transport and multimodal hubs
  • Creating new transport offerings through automation and decarbonization
