Start of the academic year 2020-2021 : Welcome to our students!

Université Gustave Eiffel is delighted to welcome students back to its various institutions. Sanitary measures have been introduced and must be complied with from the start of the new academic year.

Students on campus! This is an aspect that has been missing at Université Gustave Eiffel - and every higher education institution in France - in the last few months. We are happy to welcome students once again at our schools (EIVP, EAV&T, ENSG, ESIEE) and on our courses for the new academic year 2020-2021. This is a new period for all of us, but we spare a special thought for our first-year students who are discovering the world of higher education. They should bear in mind that our FAQ section is always accessible and contains useful information.

In the context of the health crisis, measures have been taken in order to provide the best possible health protection for all. They have also been put in place to reduce the risk of a building or even the whole university closing down in the event of  a local cluster, as this would be very harmful for all of you.

The course managers and the administrative staff of your component are your day-to-day contacts. Teaching can take place face-to-face or at a distance, depending on your course and the health, organisational and teaching conditions.
Assistance (access to a laptop, a loan to purchase a laptop if necessary, special support for students with serious financial difficulties, psychological support) will soon be available. We will tell you about these at a later date.

Masks must be worn both indoors and outdoors. Students not wearing one or not wearing it correctly will not be allowed in class.

If you forget your mask, you can ask your department or component to help you out. The distribution of masks for grant-holders and students in precarious situations will be organised shortly.

Even when wearing a mask, physical distancing should be observed as far as possible. A distance of one metre or an empty seat between each person should be maintained as far as possible in rooms. Student mixing will be kept to a minimum and the health and safety department will ensure that the sanitary instructions for cleaning the rooms are complied with.

Activities that do not allow physical distancing (e.g. chemistry practicals) can still take place since masks must be worn. Sporting activities are subject to a special protocol laid down by the Ministry of Sport. Outings and trips can only be organised if they are for educational purposes (no student orientation weekends) and if they comply with the national measures in force (please note that the situation in different geographical locations may change). It is therefore necessary to only plan events that it is possible to cancel.

The Erasmus programme is being maintained. It is still possible for our students to apply for the second semester. Applications must be sent no later than 24 September 2020. Information can be obtained by e-mail from:

The functioning of the university is subject to changes in the health situation. Please visit our Coronavirus recommendations page.

It is recommended to use the StopCovid application in order to be able to identify contact cases if necessary.

In case of suspicion of Covid, the student is encouraged to seek medical advice and/or get tested. A student who tests positive for Covid should report to In all cases, health personnel and the Regional Health Agency (ARS) will give instructions to the persons concerned.

In the event of outbreaks of contagion among students, the situations will be managed jointly by the university, the Rectorate and the Regional Health Agency, in conjunction with the Prefecture. This could, for example, result in some groups of students being quarantined for  fourteen days and the introduction of distance learning during this period.

Have a good start to the new academic year!
